About Us
Tarleton-Young Cemetery Association
The Tarleton-Young Cemetery Association is a nonprofit organization committed to the preservation, restoration, and protection of the historic Tarleton-Young Cemetery and the legacies it holds. Located in 5759 COUNTY ROAD 927, NEVADA, TX 75173, United States, this sacred ground is the final resting place for generations of families, veterans, and pioneers who played a significant role in the shaping of our community’s history.
Our Mission
Our mission is to honor the past by preserving the heritage and dignity of the Tarleton-Young Cemetery through responsible stewardship, community involvement, and historical education. We aim to maintain the grounds with care and respect, ensuring it remains a place of remembrance, reflection, and local heritage.
Our Vision
We envision a well-maintained, historically respected cemetery that serves as a lasting tribute to those interred and as an educational resource for future generations. We believe that cemeteries are not just places of rest, but also vital links to our shared cultural and family histories.
What We Do
-
Preservation & Restoration: We organize volunteer workdays, coordinate restoration projects, and seek funding for ongoing maintenance.
-
Historical Research & Documentation: We research family histories, mark unmarked graves, and create accurate records of those buried.
-
Community Engagement: We partner with local schools, historical societies, and civic groups to promote awareness and foster community pride.
-
Events & Memorials: We host memorial events, clean-up days, and fundraising efforts that invite the community to engage with and support our mission.
Our Story
Founded by concerned descendants and community members, the Tarleton-Young Cemetery Association was born out of a shared dedication to protecting this vital piece of local history. Over time, weather, neglect, and lack of resources posed threats to the cemetery's condition. Today, through grassroots support and volunteerism, we are working to ensure the cemetery is preserved with the dignity and care it deserves.

As a nonprofit, we rely entirely on donations, grants, and the generous time of volunteers. Whether you're a descendant, local resident, historian, or someone who believes in the importance of preserving history, your support is welcome and appreciated.
